Born Learning Trail
Right from birth, children are constantly learning, and what they learn during those years depends on the experiences they have each and every day. Born Learning Trails are an innovative movement that helps parents, caregivers and communities create quality early learning opportunities for young children. Click here to learn more.
Created in partnership with Volunteers in Public Schools, the Emerging Readers program recruits and trains dedicated volunteers to work with a classroom of young children at The Dufrocq School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Volunteers commit to attending at least one of the listed opportunities, in collaboration with other Emerging Leaders members, and will be trained to read to pre-k students using techniques that effectively build literacy skills. Little Free Library
Little Free Libraries, is designed to support improvements in early childhood education, which is one area of focus for CAUW. With the installation of these libraries, Emerging Leaders is able to promote early childhood literacy and the love of reading to youth in our 10-parish community. Participants can leave books to share and take books they would like to read. Little Free Library books are always a gift and never for sale.
