FREE Virtual Lunch n Learn – Access to Capital

TruFund lends to small businesses and nonprofits across a wide range of industries and business types that cannot access financing through traditional sources. Learn about their lending services include microloans, Small Business Administration Community Advantage, and contract financing for startups and growing business enterprises. TruFund’s programs seek to support the health, sustainability, and growth of small businesses, especially those owned by women and minorities, and those from underserved and disadvantaged communities.

Karen is a servant leader, educator, entrepreneur, and board volunteer. She has over a decade of expertise in the financial institution industry and five years in workforce development implementation. Karen also serves as the Business Development Officer with TruFund Financial Services Inc. covering the states of Alabama and Louisiana for business funding.

Karen's academic advancement includes an Associate of Applied Science in Business Technology from Baton Rouge Community College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration in Management from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana; a Master of Arts in Management from the University of Redlands in Redlands, California, and she became a certified Personal Finance professional at Cowin Financial Literacy Institute in New York, NY attending 
Teachers College at Columbia University. Karen is a graduate of the National Urban League Congressional Advocacy Program and National Urban League Emerging Leaders Fellow through Georgetown University. Karen received a certificate from Harvard Kennedy School Executive Education Authentic Leadership program as a Delta Leadership Institute fellow. 
 
Karen has a strong background in leadership and community service, while maintaining membership in several social, civic, and religious organizations. Her volunteer and leadership participation includes Vice Chair of Greater New Orleans Junior Achievement Young Professionals Board 2018- 2020, Vice Chair of SCORE New Orleans 2019-2020, Treasurer of Urban League of Louisiana Young Professionals 2020-2021, Delta Leadership Institute Fellow 2020, She Leads Power Coalition Fellow 2019, and Southeastern Louisiana University Gold Council Alumni Board member 2021-2023. Karen was the 2019 recipient of the Church of God in Christ, Inc. (COGIC) 40 under 40 award. Karen was also awarded the 2020 Louisiana Volunteer Champions of Service Award presented by the administration of the Lt. Governor of Louisiana Billy Nungesser. Karen also serves as a Commissioner with Volunteer Louisiana to meet the needs of Louisiana’s citizens through volunteerism.
