Volunteers are needed for the Louisiana Book Festival on Saturday, October 29, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This free, family-friendly, literary event boasts approximately 20k attendees each year. It takes place in the heart of Baton Rouge at the State Library of Louisiana, Louisiana State Capitol, Capitol Park Museum, and in tents on neighboring streets.
Volunteers are needed in a variety of capacities, including: welcoming presenters, escorting authors, monitoring rooms in the State Capitol, manning festival information booths, and more.
Volunteers can sign up by filling out our simple online form, found here: http://louisianabookfestival.org/volunteer_IWantToVolunteer2023.html We ask that volunteers try to sign up by October 16, so that we are able to order the correct amount of t-shirts for all of our volunteers.
The Louisiana Book Festival is committed to fostering a love of reading in all Louisiana residents. We believe that higher literacy rates can improve the entire community, and lead to better social skills, better health, and better employment opportunities. Encouraging people, especially young people, to read or to read more regularly is a skill and joy they can carry with them into adulthood.
To keep our festival free and accessible to all residents, we seek approximately 350 volunteers every year, so any and all help is greatly appreciated! Some of our volunteers choose to work all day with a 1-2 hour break for lunch, and most work a four-hour shift. If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
