Methanex, a local chemical company located in Ascension Parish, conducts a SafeDays campaign as part of their site turnarounds to raise awareness of the importance of working safely and giving back to the community. According to Points of Light, in 1974, National Volunteer Week was established and has expanded over the years. It serves as a special week to recognize the impact of a volunteer's time, and the power of individuals and groups to come together to face the greatest challenges in a community.
For the last several years, FamilyWize has been a partner with United Way, offering discounts on prescription drugs through various pharmacies in our area.
Recently, FamilyWize merged with SingleCare, a national organization that works in the same way - to improve people's lives by providing access to affordable prescription medications.

With nearly 50 percent of the population in our 10-Parish service area considered ALICE, which stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed, Capital Area United Way is and will continue to focus on helping these individuals and families become financially stable.
