Since the Hurricanes of 2005, the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness has designated the Louisiana Serve Commission in the State’s Emergency Operations Plan as the lead agency responsible for Spontaneous Volunteer Management in the event of a disaster or emergency. It has also designated the volunteerlouisiana.gov system to be the management system for all volunteers wanting to offer assistance in an emergency and for all service organizations requesting voluntary assistance in an emergency.
Capital Area United Way's volunteer center, Volunteer! United is partnered with the Louisiana Serve Commission on this effort.
Please visit volunteerlouisiana.gov to find volunteer opportunities or request volunteer assistance during an emergency.
